Tomorrow starts AV Festival 10, the biennial international Festival of electronic arts, taking place from 5-14 March 2010. "The Festival theme is energy: a universal force that connects, transforms and renews life. Exploring energy from scientific, technological, environmental and spiritual perspectives we present work that resonates across NewcastleGateshead, Sunderland, Middlesbrough, and beyond.
It's a packed and diverse programme with 24 exhibitions, 20 performances, 10 screenings, 14 talks, 3 symposia, 4 club nights, 2 residencies and even our very own café. We are thrilled to include legendary and inspiring artists, filmmakers and musicians such as: Kenneth Anger, Bruce Conner, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Liliane Lijn, Alan Moore, Charlemagne Palestine and Iain Sinclair, who have all innovated in their respective fields.
AV Festival exists through its vast range of partnerships with the North East public and cultural sector, and we are hugely grateful to the ongoing commitment of our partners, funders, volunteers and all of the incredible artists. The energy theme has led us to new collaborations with the science sector including the Environment Agency, Narec (New and Renewable Energy Centre), Science City and Newcastle ScienceFest.
Many events are free and will take you to unusual locations and landmark buildings in addition to many of the region's outstanding cultural venues and visitor attractions. For ticketed events, you can book online at the AV Festival 10 website."
